Now accepting 2021 applications!

The Swivel Sisters Scholarship is for a Gulf County student interested in going into a water related field. This scholarship is designed to assist with the financial cost of both traditional and nontraditional college students wishing to pursue a degree and/or certificate in areas related to water. For example, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Marine Mechanic, and/or a USCG Captain’s License. Other areas of study may be considered provided the applicant can provide explanation within the personal statement.

Recipients of the scholarship get an initial $500 rewarded to them at the Bayou Bash and then receive $500 a semester for up to 4 years if they continue to meet the scholarship requirements.

For more info on this scholarship contact your local Gulf Co guidance counselor or email

The Swivel Sisters Scholarship Program was established in 2019 and is fully funded by proceeds from the Bayou Bash Inshore Fishing Tournament.

Andre Hornsby

Our first scholarship was given out to Port St Joe Highschool student, Andre Hornsby, c/o 2020! Andre was an easy choice for this scholarship because he is a hard worker, loves to play baseball, fish, and be on the water. He has already completed his Captains License since graduating and plans to attend Haney Technical Center and study Marine Service Technologies this fall. Congrats Andre, and thank you for applying for our scholarship!
